I know this comes on the heels of yesterday’s piece on the Transfiguration, but these images came in—especially after Brandon sent me a playlist with songs that all orbited the image of fire.
He, Meg McPeek, and I all share reflections about what makes us us, so to speak, with my life being full of Leo and Sagittarius, with a healthy Scorpio there whose water energy helps me flow. For me, life is about noting the things that make my soul sing and my heart wonder more—and I want to stay curious about what can help me be more fully human. So, I pay attention to my dreams, to images that arise in conversations, to lines of poetry that float in on the breeze—or smack me on the forehead.
Brandon sent me the playlist titled “my dear fire friend,” and these words came in while listening to it. For what it’s worth…
In the end, it is the fire Why did we consent to holding the light within our hearts, to guard the flame with this incarnation, if not to take the next steps through the valley of the shadow of death and arrive, finally, in the center of our own soul? Yes, the fire burns. The question is: “What is being burned?” In the end, it is the fire that my soul calls home, the eternal flame that consumes all that separates me from the source of life itself.

Mike McPeek is our wizard who organizes and posts the podcasts, with Jennifer Williams, our Director of Communication whose eyes help connect all the dots. (I am so very thankful for these friends and colleagues).
Here’s my sermon from this week about how we pay attention to our impulses of greed. What are we truly hungry for? You can find the link here:
