“Vision:” a poem of seeing

Vision

The faintest stars
are the most beautiful.

Only when it is dark enough
do they show their faces

singing the hymn that dreamed
all creation into being.

They walk the long road
through the canyons of the universe,

only carrying what they can hold
in their hearts–the light–

as they arrive at last
and kiss my longing eyes.
