“The Only Way Out:” a poem

The Only Way Out

In the dream, the lady said

all this is very important.

The Mother of Shadows embraces all,

welcomes all into her soft arms,

allowing the weight of the Cold Father,

the brute and brittle one,

to collapse under its own absurdity,

its own blind pursuit of power.

The hungry one who cannot be filled

will consume himself

and all who put their hope

into raw power devoid of true love,

who bow to an illusion

that licks their anger off its fingers.

Beware the one who says he loves you

but does not know your true name.

The Mother stands here, and always has,

with open arms and a heart

that knows the deep truth of pain.

Her eyes are filled with tears

gathered from the softness of

our own souls.

A broken bone mends stronger.

A wound can heal, with the scar

a memory that holds wisdom.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for.

The only way out is through.

The only way out is through.

The only way out.

The only way.
